Use the 6-step pressure adjustment

How to turn on the detailed 6-step adjustment in the Apex Tyre Calculator for a more refined target pressure range.

The 6-step adjustment is an optional, more detailed calculation on the Tyres page (select Tyres in the sidebar). Instead of a single recommended pressure, it starts from the tyre's baseline range and applies up to six adjustments in turn — for things like track temperature, your wheels, race distance, and the track's condition and surface — to produce an adjusted target range. Turn it on with the 6-Step switch in the action row.

What you need

  • A tyre chosen (Tyre Manufacturer and Tyre Make).
  • For the best result: your Wheel Manufacturer and Wheel Make, the Laps you'll run, and the optional Track Condition and Track Surface Type.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, select Tyres.
  2. Fill in the calculator — at minimum a Tyre Manufacturer and Tyre Make.
  3. (Recommended) Add your Wheel Manufacturer, Wheel Make and Laps.
  4. (Optional) In the Track Condition card, set Track Condition (such as Slippery, Visible Race Line or Large Race Event) and Track Surface Type (such as Brand New, Coarse, Dusty, Bumpy or Smooth).
  5. Turn on the 6-Step toggle in the action row.
  6. Select Calculate Pressure.

What you'll see

The Pressure Readout gains a 6-Step Adjustment section showing the Baseline range, the Adjusted range (highlighted in gold), and a list of the six steps. Each step shows the change it applied to the low and high pressures, or N/A if it didn't apply to your inputs. If you already have a result on screen, flicking the 6-Step toggle recalculates straight away.

Tips

  • The wheel, laps, track condition and track surface fields mainly matter for the 6-step adjustment — fill them in to get the most from it.
  • The Adjusted range is your refined target; the Baseline is the tyre's starting range before adjustments.
  • A step marked N/A simply means you didn't provide the input it needs (for example, no track surface chosen).

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the normal result and the 6-step adjustment? The normal result gives a recommended pressure per corner. The 6-step adjustment adds a baseline → adjusted breakdown that also accounts for your wheels, race distance, and track condition/surface.

Do I have to fill in every field for the 6-step adjustment? No. It works with just a tyre selected, but the more of the wheel, laps, condition and surface fields you complete, the more steps apply and the more refined the adjusted range.

Why are some steps marked "N/A"? A step shows N/A when you haven't supplied the input it depends on (such as a track surface or wheel). Add that input and recalculate to see it apply.

Does turning the toggle on recalculate automatically? If a result is already on screen, yes — flicking 6-Step recalculates immediately. Otherwise, select Calculate Pressure.
