Choose your tyre and wheel
How to tell the Apex Tyre Calculator exactly which tyre and wheel you're running, using the Tyre & Wheel card on the Tyres page.
The Tyre & Wheel card is on the Tyres page (select Tyres in the sidebar). Your tyre choice is what the calculator bases its pressures on, so it's the most important thing to get right. The two tyre fields are required; the two wheel fields are optional but improve the detailed 6-Step adjustment.
What you need
- Your tyre brand and its compound (how soft or hard the rubber is).
- Optionally, your wheel/rim brand and model.
Steps
- In the sidebar, select Tyres.
- In the Tyre & Wheel card, open Tyre Manufacturer and choose your brand — Dunlop, Le Cont, Maxxis, MG Tyres, Mojo, Shinko or Vega.
- Open Tyre Make and choose the compound for that brand (its softer-to-harder options).
- (Optional) Open Wheel Manufacturer and choose your rim brand — AMV, Cadet, Douglas, OTK or Techno.
- (Optional) Open Wheel Make and choose the specific wheel model.
What you'll see
Once a Tyre Manufacturer and Tyre Make are set, the Calculate Pressure button at the bottom of the page turns on. The compound list only shows compounds for the brand you picked.
Tips
- Tyre Make is locked until you choose a Tyre Manufacturer first — it shows "Select manufacturer first". The same applies to Wheel Make, which needs a Wheel Manufacturer.
- Softer compounds give more grip but wear faster; harder compounds last longer with less grip. Pick the compound you'll actually run.
- If you change the manufacturer, the make resets — re-pick the compound for the new brand.
- You can skip the wheel fields entirely; they're optional and only refine the 6-step adjustment.
Frequently asked questions
Which tyre brands does Apex support? Seven: Dunlop, Le Cont, Maxxis, MG Tyres, Mojo, Shinko and Vega.
Why can't I open the "Tyre Make" list? It stays disabled until you've chosen a Tyre Manufacturer. Pick a brand first and the compounds for that brand appear.
Do I have to choose a wheel? No. Wheel Manufacturer and Wheel Make are optional. They aren't needed for a basic calculation, but they sharpen the detailed 6-step adjustment.
What does "compound" mean? It's how soft or hard the tyre's rubber is — in Apex it's the Tyre Make for your chosen brand, such as a soft, medium or hard option.
